Core-Dinations Shattered!

I just got my hands on some New Core-Dinations “Shattered” cardstock by Tim Holtz…and I LOVE it!

It’s a Kraft core cardstock with a coloured layer on top (in this case blue) but the crackle pattern is already on the paper, no stamping, no crumpling (for those of you who shrink at the thought of mashing your beautiful paper with your hands, tee hee)  This cardstock is great!

You can emboss it with whatever folder you have and scratch off the top layer with your sanding block, or you can leave the pattern and just rough up the edges a little…

It totally looks like the paper has been crumpled then sanded, but unlike crumpled paper, this lies flat on your card, so attaching it is super easy, with whatever glue you like!

And the best part is the stores locally are carrying the small “Card Makers” assortment pads in 6 x 6, and 4.25 x 5.5 as well as the 12 x 12 pads so you can try ALL the colours at a minimal cost!  If your local shop doesn’t have them in yet, just ask for it, they probably don’t know yet how COOL this paper is!

Here’s one of the cards I’ve created for my class at Scrapbook City in Surrey using this Kraft Core “”Shattered” cardstock…what do you think?

P.S. that GORGEOUS scallop border is Impression Obsession, and you get both the borders you see on the card in the same set!  The Style # is DIE019-V just in case you want to find it at your local store too!

March excitement…

Andrew’s cookies have been retired, sigh.  But when I saw this picture he took of some Sea Glass that he found on the Beach in Roberts Creek, well, it just seemed to speak to me!  A regular old bottle, tossed into the sea to journey wherever the tides take it, changing with each mile, until it is a completely different object, simple, smooth, beautiful…just like me, tee hee!

This week’s journey took me to Chilliwack, where I stepped in to another store stocked full with cool products!  I was very excited to see a rack of Ranger Alcohol Inks, so we’ve scheduled a class on Advanced Techniques for Classic on Alexander, I hope you’ll check it out!

And of course I taught my first 3D paint class in Gibson’s on Saturday at the Family Matters Day Crop, and I must say, Debbie found the perfect little spot for the ladies day of crafting..Right on the BEACH!  I hope she does it again, because everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves!

I visited with a few of you at Paper Poet in New West, where the 8 x 11 Bazzill cardstock is the cheapest in town, and they’ve broken up all the hardware and ephemera packages to sell them bulk like we did at Cherish.

The Stencil Demo at Cherry Lane ran over time again as I tried to show EVERYTHING that you can do with stencils, and I’m pleased to say that I received an e-mail from one of the ladies telling me she was re-inspired (Awesome Jacque!!)

But among the fun, I was sorry to see that Paper Nation announced that they were moving on in their own adventure, and I truly wish Bryan the very best of luck in his own future path.  I know he will miss all of you, but I’m sure he realizes that he holds a special place in our hearts too.

Please, and I know I’ve said this before, but please support your local shops, both scrapbook and others, we love what we do, and want to keep bringing you the latest and greatest as fast we can, but without your visits, that will get harder and harder.  I will do my very best to teach as many cool classes as I can, at as many stores as I have time for, and I look forward to seeing you there.

February Travels…

Another week of adventures as I roam the lower mainland…Scrapbook Warehouse has an amazing assortment of Impression Obsession stamps that I simply HAD to add to my collection!
Making Memories on Hastings has put together some totally awesome Monthly Page kits for your scrapbooks, and I can’t seem to get “July” out of my head…I think I need to snatch it up!
Paper Cafe really know their Vintage, and there were quite a few pieces I wanted to sneak into my car!
Teaching at Scrapbook City is a challenge, as I have trouble keeping my mind on the class as I’m admiring all the embossing folders, 3D card kits and stickers all around me!
The ladies kept me hopping at Cherry Lane, moving from one technique to another during our Dylusion’s Demo, and of course teaching my first class today at Precious Memories was SO much fun!  Though Amy had to drag Tanya away as I wouldn’t stop chatting…maybe I have to tell them the story about when I was a Sales Rep and there was a shop that used to bribe me with Homemade fudge when they were done with me…”Jessie, would you like some Baileys fudge before you go…free?”  Yup, I got the message, and it worked, I stopped talking…a mouth full of fudge works every time, tee hee.

Anyway, I can’t believe that it’s only been a month since we closed Cherish, as all the stores have been so welcoming to me that I feel like I’ve been teaching in their workshops forever, and I truly hope that you’ve made it out to a few stores yourself!

Merry Christmas!

I know, I’m late, but I wanted to show you the Christmas Card we gave out this year…
Thant’s Andrew’s, Ella’s and My fingerprints creating those cute snowmen, and Andrew hand drew the details.  Every Card was therefore different, unique and extra Special.  This one was one of my favorites…
