Dream-Pendous Blog Hop!

Are you ready to be inked, pasted, encrusted, stenciled and stamped? Because all this week the Dreamweaver Stencils’ Dream Team and the Stampendous Design Teams will be providing some “Dream-pendous” inspiration for you, with multiple opportunities to win some fabulous prizes from both companies. In my bag of Stampendous Inpiration, I was given…

Silver Halo Glitter, Shaved ice Fran-tage, Conservatory Cling Stamp & Friendly Phrases Cling Stamp, and for my first card on this Dream-pendous Blog Hop, I created this…

I used Spellbinders Labels 17 to cut a frame out of Cream coloured Craft Foil. I then Dry Embossed it with my Dreamweaver Mosiac Tiles Stencil LJ901 (probably my favorite Background stencil!).

I thought the mosiac tile effect would have a nice texture against the “Glass walls” of the conservatory. Of course I used my fine sanding block to scratch off the top layer of colour on the craft foil to show the silver underneath. That effect might be lost in the photo though, sigh.

Next, I applied my Tombow Aqua glue to the inner edge of the embossed metal frame, and poured the Silver Halo Glitter over it, tapping off whatever didn’t stick.

Now for the main image, I wanted to stamp on Vellum, because it would give a softer background than regular cardstock, and with the frame being so “concrete”, softness was needed. I initially stamped with my Staz-on Ink pad, but the image wasn’t crisp enough (maybe I need a new pad), but then I tried my VersaFine Ink pad by Tsukineko. It’s an awesome ink pad for very detailed stamps. Here’s the comparison between the two…

The detail is lost in the photo, but not only was the Versafine Darker, it was MUCH crisper. So obviously that was the image I chose to use. (I did heat set it with my Heat Gun so it wouldn’t smear.

Next I wanted to add some glitter. maybe I was thinking “Snow”, but really I just wanted more Sparkle, tee hee. Using my Sakura Quickie Glue Pen, I added glitter to the top of the Conservatory as well as scribbling some glue along the trees, and pouring the glitter over top.

I then put it all together, adding a Sentiment from the Friendly Phrases Cling Stamp (this set is AWESOME, it includes a variety of sentiments, as well as sayings for the inside of your card AND a “heartfelt & handmade by” set so you can sign the back of your card. A complete Stamp set if ever I saw one!)

This stamp would have been lovely all coloured in as well, but I wanted to show you that you shouldn’t be afraid of detailed stamps, they can look gorgeous all on their own, and they can make a really easy card, look complicated, and thereby impress all your friends!

So each day this week, you will be directed from both the Stampendous Impressions’ blog or the Dream It Up! blog to the players du jour for your oohing and aaahing pleasure.

Everyone will be playing on Saturday, the 14th with our final hop for the week. This is your opportunity to see how to mix and mingle your creativity…if you are a stenciler, you will be fascinated at combining stamps with your first love. If you are a stamper, you will be wowed at how stencils can add to your impressions.

Also, Dreamweaver is giving a away one FREE stencil a day to a lucky FaceBooker who “likes” us and leaves a comment about which stencil is your favorite! Check out the Dreamweaver site to see ALL the stencils available!
