Rainbow Painting with Embossing Powder

In this tutorial I will show you how to create a “Rainbow” effect with your Background stamps (although it does work with main image stamps as well) using Embossing powder.  It’s a really fast technique, this card took less than 5 minutes to complete, but it looks fabulous!

Supplies Needed:

  • Background Stamp (I used “Happiness” by Local King Rubber)
  • Tsukineko Versamark Pad
  • Tsukineko Black Embossing Powder
  • Tsukineko Copper Embossing Powder
  • Tsukineko Gold Embossing Powder
  • Heat Gun
  • Chocolate Kisses

Step 1

Cover the entire Background stamp with Versamark Ink.  Using regular cardstock stamp your image.

Step 2

Hold the stamped image above a tupperware container or scrap piece of paper, at a steep angle and pour the Gold Embossing powder over the bottom 1/3 of the cardstock with the excess falling off onto your scrap paper (or tupperware).  The powder will only stick to the Versamarked Image and nothing else.  Tap off the excess.

Step 3

Place your stamped image into a clean tupperware container and pour the Copper Embossing Powder over the bottom 2/3 of the cardstock with the excess falling off onto your scrap paper (or tupperware).  It will not stick to anything that the Gold powder is already covering.  Tap off the excess.

Step 4

Put your stamped image in a clean tupperware container and pour the Black Embossing powder over the rest of the Image.  Tap off the excess.

Step 5

Use your Heat Gun to melt the embossing powder, add the embellishments of your choice and mount to your Card Base.

Step 6

You are done!  Treat yourself with Chocolate Kisses for all your hard work!
