I don’t know if I’m rested from the holiday yesterday or something’s been slipped into my Ice Cap, but I’ve been busy around here today and have A LOT to tell you!
Neat ‘Nique ~ Saturday August 9th ~ Drop in between 3 -5pm
New in the Store
Quickutz arrived on Friday (a week late!) but I have some new dies, including some awesome Snowflakes, a Nameplate, Holly, and Holly Fasteners. I told you I was slowly getting some Christmas stuff in.
We’re also working on making up some kits for our 3D paper objects. You’ve seen our mannequin in the window in her paper dress? Well, we’ve added High Heel shoes, and Baby shoes, with a Purse, a Rocking Horse and a Train (oh yes, Marina, a TRAIN!) on the way, Oh my!
Weekend to End Breast Cancer ~ Sept 6-7
Some of you may know that Andrew and I are avid supporters of our kids and our local schools. The money from the sale of our “Survivor” cards is put toward any fundraising that our schools are in need of.
What you may not know is that for the past 2 years, Gwen has done the 60km Weekend Walk for a Cure for Breast Cancer, and is going to do it all again this year. As Gwen has done a lot to support Cherish, we are going to try our best to support her in this effort. We are planning some loonie demos in the upcoming weeks that we would like to call “Bucks for Boobs”, and your lucky loonie will go towards finding a cure.
On Saturday August 23rd, we will also be doing a mini workshop under the tent outside our store, and for $5 you will make Jessie’s Mini Origami Book, Cherish is donating all the materials, so the entire fee is going towards the cause. During this promotion, as well, Cherish the Thought will be matching your $5 class fee, so we hope that you will be able to come out and support Gwen, and all the other women who are taking part in this event. We may do a repeat class on the following Saturday, I’ll keep you posted.
Next Week’s Class – 4 x 6 Acrylic Mini Album
In this class we will be using Alcohol Inks (you know how I love them!) to colour Peel-Offs to decorate our acrylic pages. We will also be using the Bind-it-all to put the whole thing together so this is a great opportunity to learn how you can make your own books of varying sizes! As usual the class is Sunday at 1pm and Wednesday at 10:30am or 6:30pm and there are a few spots left…
Our kid’s classes are scheduled for the week of August 18 – 22 and include a card class, a 2 page layout, an altered cigar box, an altered altoids tin, a mini acrylic book, and more. Photos are posted on our website under “Workshops”. The classes are taught by Caelin (age 10), Lindsey (age 12), Laura (age 14) and Jessie (you’ll never guess, though we could do it as a promo, like at PlayLand…, guess my Age though, not my weight, tee hee)
I also had an interesting conversation with Calli this past week about Teen classes, and she brought up something I hadn’t thought of. It’s not about the complexity of the project, it’s about the conversations. I guess it’s not easy to relate to a fabulously interesting story about what a one year old eats when you’re only 13. So, we will be looking into doing something for Teens when school starts up, I’ll keep you posted…
And speaking of One Year olds…
O.k. so some of you may have already heard this story when you were in this week, but get used to hearing me tell them again and again, Andrew has (tee hee). So Ella and I are playing in front of a mirror last week-end at a friends house, and I asked her, “Who’s that gorgeous girl in the mirror?” and without missing a beat she replied “Mama” awww, isn’t she the sweetest! ~ Granted, it’s the only word she knows besides woof woof, but it’s pretty special to have your very own “Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall”
Phew! I guess that about wraps it up, so…
Spread the Sparkle,
Adhere with Abandon,
And the next time you look in your mirror, listen to the little voice that says “You are the fairest of them all”!
Jessie, Gwen, Dianne and Laura
